Shared live golf scorecards for friends and guests

Follow the round as it happens.

WORM lets a scorer share a live golf scorecard by link. Friends and guests can follow the latest saved scores and permitted game results in a browser without an account or download. Use this checklist to set up the playing roster, handle weak reception and check the finished card.

Before the first tee

  1. Set up the course and round while connected. A new scorecard can include up to eight golfers, including the host.
  2. Use + Friend for golfers with WORM accounts who should participate in the shared card. Use + Guest for golfers without accounts. A guest name alone does not grant editing access.
  3. Have linked golfers open the shared card in WORM while they still have reception. Agree who will enter scores so two people do not unknowingly change the same hole.
  4. Create a viewing link with the round’s sharing control, check whether it includes money information, and send it to the intended viewers.

Who can score, and who can watch?

PersonHow they take part
Host / scorerSets up the round, enters scores and controls completion and shared viewing links.
Account-linked golferUses WORM to enter scores on the shared card, then reviews their own finished scorecard for their history.
Guest playing in the roundHas a place on the scorecard without needing an account. A scorer with access enters their scores.
Browser viewerFollows the saved scores and permitted results through the link. No account or app is needed; the browser card is read-only.

Example: one foursome, two guests

For a hypothetical Saturday round, the host adds one account-linked friend and two guests. That makes four golfers on the scorecard. The host and linked friend can score in WORM; the two guests can follow the same card in their browsers.

A friend watching from home can open the viewing link too. Watching does not add that person to the playing roster or give them permission to change scores. The eight-golfer limit applies to the scorecard roster.

When reception drops or a score looks wrong

On supported WORM builds, the host and linked golfers can keep changes on their own device during a connection loss. A browser viewer needs a connection to receive updates. A score saved on one phone may not have reached the shared card yet.

What you seeWhat to do next
Browser scores have stopped changingCheck reception on both the scoring phone and viewing device. Keep the viewer open and connected; it may be showing the last scores received.
Changes are waiting to saveReconnect the scoring device and check its save status. Keep the app and round data in place until those changes are confirmed.
Two people entered different scoresCompare the hole with the players. Review any overlapping changes in WORM rather than assuming the most recent entry is correct.
The round still appears live after the last holeThe host should reconnect, resolve pending changes and check that finishing the shared round is confirmed. Playing the last hole does not by itself finalize the card.
The viewing link is unavailableAsk the scorer whether sharing was turned off or the round was discarded. An expired link needs a fresh invitation.

Check the card after the last putt

The host cannot confirm changes that are still only on another disconnected phone. Check together before finishing so an offline scorer is not left with unsent entries.

For a competition played under the Rules of Golf, follow the organizer’s scorecard procedure. Rule 3.3b explains the marker’s and player’s responsibilities to check and certify hole scores and return the card. WORM’s in-app review does not by itself establish that your event’s requirements have been met.

  1. Compare each golfer’s hole-by-hole actual scores, including any penalty strokes, before finishing. Keep optional WORM adjustments separate from the actual score.
  2. Ask every linked scorer to reconnect and check their pending saves or conflicting entries. After everyone’s scores are saved, the host completes the shared round and checks that completion is confirmed.
  3. Each linked golfer reviews and approves their own finished scorecard for their history. Viewing the card in a browser does not approve it or establish that the viewer played.

Played as a guest? Keep your result

If a completed, eligible scorecard offers Save my round, use it to request the guest result you actually played. Opening the viewing link or installing WORM alone does not add the round to History. These steps require a compatible WORM build.

  1. Keep the original viewing link. If you need to install the iPhone beta, return to that link after installation and choose Save my round to open WORM.
  2. Sign in or create and verify your account if needed. Check the course and scorer, then select the guest name you played under and choose Request my scorecard. The scorer sees your account name and handle.
  3. Ask the scorer to check Notifications or the finished round’s Share → Guest requests and confirm the correct player. A request is not yet a saved result.
  4. Once confirmed, choose Review my scores, or open History → Scorecards to review. Check your hole scores and approve the card to add your result to History.

Guest result not in History? Check the stage

Worked example: in the hypothetical Saturday foursome above, one guest installs WORM that evening. They return to the original link, request their guest name, wait for scorer confirmation and approve their own card. The friend who only watched from home must not claim a player’s result.

Saving a guest result does not grant live editing access, rewrite the original playing roster or create retroactive Group challenge credit.

What you seeNext step
Waiting for the scorer to confirmThe scorer must confirm your identity first. Ask them to check the guest request, then use Check again.
The scorer confirmed your requestConfirmation unlocks score review. Use Review my scores or History → Scorecards to review; approval is a separate step.
No unclaimed guest scorecards are availableIf you were added through + Friend, check History → Scorecards to review instead of claiming a guest name. Otherwise ask the scorer to check the roster.
You selected the wrong guestUse Chose the wrong player? when offered before confirmation. If the request was declined or you cannot correct it there, contact the scorer rather than claiming another person’s scores.
The viewing link expired or was turned offA pending request still needs active link access. Ask the scorer for a current link. If your claim was already confirmed, look in History → Scorecards to review; confirmation survives a later link expiry.

Control what the link reveals

Anyone who has a working round link can see the information it permits. The scorer chooses whether money information is included when creating each link. Changing a later link does not change earlier links.

Turn off links stops the round’s existing browser viewing links once the change is confirmed online; it does not remove account-linked players from the round. Viewing links expire after 30 days. A round link does not open other rounds, account backups or the Group’s history.

Put a finished round in context

A live shared card follows one round. Group tournament standings use eligible completed, approved entries, and Group results have their own member access rules. Sharing the card does not enter it into a tournament.

For a recurring crew, use a Group to keep standings and records across outings. Adding a Group to the round does not fill its playing roster; add the golfers separately.

Common questions

Can someone follow my scorecard without downloading WORM?

Yes. A shared round link opens a read-only scorecard in a browser without an account or installation. The viewer sees the latest scores received and the results that link permits.

Can a guest change scores from the web link?

No. The browser viewer is read-only. Scoring happens in WORM through the host or an account-linked player with access. Adding a guest name to the card does not give that guest editing access.

Can linked golfers keep score without reception?

On supported WORM builds, linked golfers can keep changes on their own device after opening the shared card while connected. Reconnect and check save status; overlapping changes need review. Browser viewers need a connection for updates.

Why is a shared scorecard out of date or unavailable?

The scoring phone or viewer may be offline, so the page can show older saved scores. The scorer may also have stopped sharing, discarded the round, or sent a link that has expired. Check the save status and ask the scorer for a current link.

Does opening a round link save that round to my WORM history?

No. Following a card in a browser is separate from saving your own result. Linked golfers review and approve their finished scorecard in WORM. Guests can request an eligible completed card through Save my round when offered; scorer confirmation and score review are required.

Why is my guest round still missing after the scorer confirmed it?

Scorer confirmation and saving your result are separate. Choose Review my scores, or open History → Scorecards to review, check the hole scores and approve the card. If your request is still pending, the scorer must confirm it first.

Is a live scorecard the same as tournament standings?

No. The shared card follows one round during play. Group tournament standings are built from eligible completed and approved round entries; sharing a viewing link does not enter a result.
