Golf club length calculator.

Two measurements. A starting iron length to try.

Your measurements

70 inches = 5 ft 10 in.
Measure with arms relaxed.
How to measure
  1. Wear flat-soled shoes and stand upright on a level floor.
  2. Keep your shoulders level and your arms relaxed at your sides.
  3. Have someone measure from your dominant wrist’s main crease straight down to the floor.
  4. Measure twice. Use total inches or centimeters for both measurements.

Golf club length by height and wrist to floor

This free golf club length calculator turns two body measurements into an initial iron-length reference. It gives the length of a reference 7-iron and the adjustment from the chart’s 37-inch baseline. It does not assume that every brand uses the same standard.

For example, a height of 70 inches and wrist-to-floor measurement of 35 inches match a 37-inch reference 7-iron. A taller player does not automatically need longer clubs: arm length, posture and the chosen model also matter.

Use the result before you buy or alter clubs

Take the reference length to a fitter and compare it with the actual manufacturer’s specification. Hit shots and check contact, posture and lie. Adding length also changes how a club feels, so this static measurement should start the fitting conversation.

The tool matches the chart’s nearest measurement grid without extrapolation. Some combinations are absent or inconsistent in the source; those return no recommendation. At a measurement boundary, different valid rows can produce a range.

Common questions

What length golf clubs do I need?

Height and wrist-to-floor measurements can identify a starting iron length to try. This calculator uses Wishon Golf’s published initial-fitting chart and reports a reference 7-iron length. A fitter should check posture, strike, lie and the actual model before you buy or change clubs.

Can I choose club length from height alone?

Height alone misses differences in arm length. Measure wrist to floor as well, with flat-soled shoes, level shoulders and your arms relaxed at your sides. Have someone measure the main crease of your dominant wrist down to the floor.

Does standard length mean the same thing for every brand?

No. This reference chart uses a 37-inch 7-iron. Compare the actual length in your manufacturer’s specifications. An adjustment here is relative to that reference, not an instruction to add or remove that amount from your current clubs.

Does this work for women, juniors, drivers or putters?

The chart has no gender split; it uses the measurements entered. This tool is for an adult’s initial iron-length fitting. It does not fit junior clubs, drivers or putters, and it does not recommend shaft flex or lie angle.

Why might I get a range or no recommendation?

Measurements are matched to the nearest whole-inch height and half-inch wrist-to-floor reference. Exact halfway measurements use both neighboring entries. A range appears if those entries differ. Missing or internally inconsistent source entries produce no recommendation; the tool does not invent a fit.
